There are three different basic types of snap button systems: S Spring, Ring Spring and Open Ring Spring. No matter which snap button system suits your products, we can make snap buttons in different designs, alloys and sizes. You can also get snap buttons made with a logo or other customer-specific features.
Called an “S” Spring because the socket (the female-part) has a built-in “S” shaped spring mechanism, which holds on to the stud (the male-part).
This type of snap button is traditionally used for workwear, outer garments (all ages), and for thick shirts and leather products (bags, etc.). The “S” Spring can only be used for woven fabrics – not for knitted fabrics.
Called a Ring Spring because the socket (the female-part) has a single built-in spring mechanism which is shaped like a split ring. This holds on to the stud (the male-part). The Ring Spring can only be used for woven fabrics – not for knitted fabrics.
The socket is attached to the cap through the fabric and is often called the female-part of the four-part combination.
Open Ring snap buttons are made up of a petal-shaped socket (the female-part), which is attached to the stud (the male-part). This type is good for knitted fabrics because of the five-legged construction of the ring, which is attached to either the socket or the stud.
Open Ring snap buttons are produced in three standard sizes: 14, 15 and 16 lines. Lines are a type of measurementin which 1 line = 0.635 mm. The size of the product refers to the diameter of the open ring.
Open Ring The Open Ring is produced in a selection of metal alloys and colours. The coloured rings are enamelled and can be chosen from YKK’s colour card. Alternatively, the desired colour can be dyed according to the colour of the fabric.
The socket is attached to the ring through the fabric and is often called the female-part of the set.
